Remember these gorgeous shots? Well Lyna and Melvin from Song For The Mute have just finished their follow-up collection and (even though I’m totally biased) I have to say it’s as great as the last! We shot Jordan Coulter of DSquared2 fame in a spectacular location near Newcastle and I just can’t get enough of the images. Simply stunning. Here are a few of my faves, you can check out the rest on The Fashionisto.

Two images from GALA Curios’ stunning collection, Into The Fold.

Shot by Bowen Arico, styled by Paul Bui, and with hair and makeup by moi, these pieces and images re-envision origami and contemporary Japanese textiles. I kept hair and makeup really simple for this shoot by playing with light and shade. My key highlighting products were Nars’ Highlighting Blush Powder in Albatross and Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl, while I contoured heavily and painted lips with Nars’ The Multiple Bronzer in Cap Vert.

I’ve got my eyes on the Crushed Cuff in Nickle Silver and Accordian Bangle in Brass, what about you?

I’m not sure if you recall but late last year I said that I had some huge news, and now, it can finally be revealed…

My work is published in the latest issue of Vogue Australia. I know, pretty exciting! I can’t say thank you enough to Sigourney, the beauty and health editor at Vogue, who is the kindest and sweetest person you will ever meet.

It’s only Wednesday and this is exactly how I feel…

Exhausted and desperate to go and bask in the sun!

What a week! An AMAZING week so far but a little crazy. A test with Zanita on Monday, then Illamasqua’s launch of their latest collection “The Art Of Darkness” in the evening, a recreation of Vermeer’s ‘Girl With A Pearl Earring’ at the Brett Whitely gallery yesterday, and a gorgeous portrait shoot of Haute Couture designer Steven Khalil this morning with the incredible Bowen Arico. Yep, that’s right, Julia Nobis is on his home page!! Sounds pretty manageable… but throw in a bunch of blog posts (to be published here and elsewhere), buying a bigger work diary and filling it in, having a quick play-around on my camera so I take some decent photos tonight at Shop ‘Til You Drop‘s event at World Square (if you haven’t heard – there are shows, sales and Din Tai Fung canapes (OH MY! YAY!) – from 6pm to 9pm) and of course, watching a few episodes of my new favourite tv show, Better Off Ted. Who knew one could fit so much into three days!?!

There will be heaps of posts with lots of pretty pictures coming this way soon, so keep your eyes peeled! I’m super excited, I wish I could just freeze time so I could fill you now.

Oh, I also think I need more Marc Jacobs in my life. Especially in the form of that giant clutch on the left.

Hmm.

A New Muse

Last Saturday I shot for online magazine A New Muse. It was incredible! A pastel story with pieces from Ms Vivienne Westwood, Sass & Bide, Ime and others, it was totally inspiring. I made my own pastel lipcolours ranging from pink and purple to green and gray, and made our model’s, Brielle’s, hair thunderstruck. It was so much fun to play with colour and have such freedom, I can’t wait to see the images!

Check out A New Muse, it has recently been relaunched in a sleek format and is run by the loveliest crew in town. Anddd… is all about launching young, local, creative talent! Now that’s my kind of read.

I’m so excited! The second issue of Happenstance magazine is now out. It’s a great Sydney-based mag that celebrates all of the awesome things that are going on in town.

A few months back we shot the fashion spread Home Spun on a rooftop in Darlinghurst. I remember waking up way too early, maybe about 4, and getting to our set long before the sun was going to rise.

A winter-time Sydney at about 5.30am. That random light in the sky is Centrepoint tower.

Here we are just about about to start. It was FREEZING! And then of course, as midday hit, it was boiling! Here’s our model Madeline wrapped in blankets and Daniel Dittmar, Happenstance’s Creative Director, all rugged up.

Winter Lookbooks

The last week has been utterly manic and absolutely fantastic! I’ve been super pleased with all of the work I’ve been doing, I’ve even rewarded myself with TWO makeup shopping sprees!

On Friday I did the Bebe Winter 2010 Lookbook. Winter, already!?! There were two looks, one very Sienna Miller/Mary-Kate Olsen ‘It-girl’-esque smokey eye combined with Erin Wasson messy hair, and the other a natural, young pretty thing (above). I was pleased with the makeup, but totally thrilled with the hair. A little Luella Spring 2010 and a touch of Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 et voila!

And speaking of Louis Vuitton Fall 2009, yesterday at the Grace & Hart Winter Lookbook shoot we couldn’t help but be inspired by those bunny ears..

We made our own ears with feather-pompoms! I don’t know if the label will be keen on this look, but I think it’s gorgeous! And definitely wearable. (Sorry about the dodgy quality of the picture, I forgot and had to take a photo of the computer screen… Whoops!) There were also two makeup looks for this shoot, a soft winter look (above) and striking Italian femme (below) to go with the glamourous party dresses.

A slight tan, strong brows and Nars lipstick in “Scarlett Empress”, and here she is, ready for a Roman Holiday! I can’t wait to see the final pictures, much much better than those taken by my iPhone!

A few weeks ago the lovely Eliza (I know, what a great name!) at Oyster gave me a bunch of beauty products that were hanging around the office. Amongst them were products from the latest Chanel Noirs Obscurs Collection! Lucky me! As you can tell by the name, everything was really really dark (obscure blacks, if you will). I instantly put on the nail polish (I received “Diabolic”, a black with a deep red base) and pretty much haven’t taken it off since.

The lipsticks on the other hand, I’ve really been struggling with trying to use them. I used this lip colour (above) on a test I did for Henson Threads. The brief was “a sexy dead woman” so that was obvious, super pale skin and smoldering lips. But in day-to-day wear, I haven’t had a clue… Until last night!

I put on my Sacre Coeur dress (sans leggings and skivvy), had my long dark brown hair out, messy and in my eyes, but still needed something else… Then it struck me, my lipstick in “Obscure”. It’s a brown-black lipstick although because I have such a strong lipcolour it comes up on my lips as black. I didn’t need any other makeup besides a touch of mascara and then I was ready to go.

It felt amazing!

It was so simple, so striking but not scary or overwhelming. It was just a touch of something different. And because it was so bold it just gave me this confidence that now I want to wear it every single day and never take it off!

The trick is not to over do it. My hair is so thick and quite long so I feel like I always need something on my lips to balance my face out, and last night I needed a strong lip colour to parallel the intensity of the red in the dress. I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of it before!

It’s so much fun, you must give it a try. I’m definitely going to keep on playing with the colour and try to figure out more outfit-options!

Hair Tricks

I just remembered that I did these videos with Oyster Productions a month ago and I haven’t put them up.. Whoops! It was for hair megabrand KMS using three of Sydney’s top hair stylists. The aim was to get three styles out of the one haircut. And each style had a different makeup look to reflect the mood of the piece, so a different lip, heavier eyes, etc.

Make sure to take notes! There are some awesome tips in there!!

Ive just been updating my online portfolio and thought I’d put up the full EP promo I did with the guys from Oyster Productions here. It was with local Kistune signed artists Ted & Francis. We shot it all over Sydney in March, with Alex Goddard filming and editing, Britt Mccamey styling and myself on grooming. It was quite a long day but still super fun! I think the final product is awesome! I hope you like it too!
