A fortnight ago I wrote an article about the current crazy-coloured hair trend for The Australian newspaper (!!). I distinctly remember the Rodarte wunderkinds showing a variety of coloured extensions aaaages ago at their Spring 2008 show and then those purveyors of cool Proenza Schouler who presented murky looks at their Spring 2010 show. After that, King Karl showed pastel streaks on the models at Chanel’s Spring 2010 couture show and at the same time Abbey Lee Kershaw got colourful on the cover of Vogue Australia. Since then, it’s gotten big and it’s not going away.

Wanna know how to get the look without destroying your beautiful hair? Well, don’t I have great news for you! In writing the article I tried and tested everything and anything and have got the low-down on what works.

Firstly, the man responsible for Abbey Lee’s locks, the very lovely Kevin Murphy, has just launched a coloured powder called Color.Bug. I’m in love! They’re easy to use and the colours are ace.

Secondly, for a powdery texture a la Thakoon S/S 2012, use the easily accessible Australian brand Cinta’s range of Intense Colour Hairsprays.

For a runway replica hairdo, try German professional makeup brand Kryolan’s Colour Spray which I spotted backstage at Narciso Rodriguez.

Otherwise, for a sleeker, smoother texture, try alternative New York brand Manic Panic’s range of Dye Hard Gels.

Well what’s stopping you? It’s super easy and they all wash out with shampoo.

What colour will you go for? I’m loving bright green, pastel pink and purple.

1. Makeup

Care for clean, fresh, and  sun-kissed (but not tanned) looking skin? Well this Chanel light cream-gel bronzer is the way to go. I’ve used this product a bunch of times before and now am desperate to have it in my kit! It’s super lightweight and very subtle, yet adds the faintest and loveliest glow.

2. Skincare

I can never say no to parties and pudding, so I have a feeling come New Years that my skin is going to be a little worse for wear. So I’m thinking ahead wishing for Eve Lom’s Rescue Mask which clears congested skin and boosts the complexion. I’m also hoping for Dynaspot – my favourite spot treatment!

3. Body

Philosophy’s Limited Edition Holiday Hostess Set containing Cinnamon Sugar Icing Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath as well as Body Lotion. Believe me, it’s the most scrumptious scent for the festive season.

4. Haircare

Because everyone deserves a Mason Pearson hairbrush. That’s all.

5. Fragrance

I have just discovered Jo Malone and holy moley – Red Roses Cologne s’il vous plait! Comprised of seven types of roses from all over the world, it smells exactly like a bouquet of fresh-cut flowers. Simply delicious!

6. For the Home

By now I’m sure you know that I a) love Paris, b) love pastels, and c) am totally obsessed with macarons, so this candle is pretty much the ultimate gift. Laduree have finally come to Australia and I cannot wait to get my mitts on one of these Fraise de Bois (Wild Strawberries) candles. It smells super sweet and the gorgeous light blue ceramic pot is perfect to keep once the candle has gone.  Now, as soon as I find out where you can purchase these I will let you know!

And finally…

Les Trompe-L’Oeil De Chanel Temporary Skin Art. I know I know, they’re a bit much, but come on, it’s the holiday season, have some (Chanel) fun!

Ali Stevens looking divine in the August edition of Flair shot by Eric Guillemain. I love the shadows on her face and how they emphasise the gloss on her lids. The gloss makes the grey smokey eye much more wearable and suitable for daytime. Her brows are also pretty gorgeous too, a beautiful, strong shape (best done with an angled brush and powder).

ps. The nails are definitely Particuliere by Chanel. LOVE THEM!
