FEMME FATALE

Not your regular femme fatale, but an enchantress nonetheless. Even though we’re fast approaching winter here, all I think about are maxi-skirts and maxi-dresses. Make the most of the sun but beware of its harsh rays. Protect the skin with my new favourite facial sunscreen, Kit Cosmetics Mineral Tinted Moisturiser with SPF15. Mineral, sheer and non-greasy – it’s perfect!

MANIA MANIA

A still from Surfer: A Fashion Film starring Crystal Renn for StylCaster.com

Hi folks! What wonderfully crazy month! I have been following the fashion weeks non-stop, writing up a storm and settling into my new role. I’m really looking forward to getting back into Liner Notes – I’ve been shooting quite a bit, have lots of delicious products I want to share with you, and have decided that I am going to feature more Insider’s Insights. I’ve been doing lots of interviews lately (here’s a little something I did with Brad Ngata) and have been loving it, so expect more Q&As with up-and-coming people and brands.

In the meantime, I want to say a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Lyna and Melvin from Song For The Mute for winning the LMFF Designer Award. The duo are so kind and talented, they truly deserve this award and I can’t wait to celebrate with them when they return from Melbourne. Here’s Vogue.com.au‘s report of the event. Well done guys!

BOLD GOLD

Since Peter Philips painted eyes gold at Proenza Schouler’s A/W 2011 show last week, I have gone copper crazy! Check out duo eyeshadows in Isolde, Méditerranée, and Balthazar by Nars for a chic, gilded look.

AMANDA

As you know, I don’t really do posts with celebrities, but firstly, Amanda Seyfried is gorgeous, and secondly, oh em gee her hair looks amazing! A very wise hair stylist once told me that if you want to style your hair well, you need to make the texture “like canvas, not silk”. Add product, make it messy, make it sexy. Have a play!

TURBAN TIME

I am ready to turban now. Will you join me? We can make Miuccia Prada proud!

DEAR ARIZONA

Fashion’s latest It-Girl, model Arizona Muse.

Since doing this Chanel show a few weeks ago I’ve been obsessed with bringing eyeshadow up to the brow, it’s so sexy and even a little 80s. Lip stain with a touch of gloss, along with face luminiser, works best with this eye as it tones the look down and keeps it fresh. She’s pretty, sexy and chic.

BLONDES HAVE MORE FUN

I’ve never really been a fan of that old adage (purely because I’m a stubborn brunette), BUT MY GOSH, ASHLEY SMITH YOU ARE GORGEOUS! Those colours, those lips, that fair skin, that hair – oh man, it’s really not fair. I am definitely getting my bright on tomorrow!

HELLO AGAIN!

Geez, it feels like forever since I last posted, how have you been? I have some super exciting news to share – I’m now writing for Vogue.com.au. Eep! I’ll be writing about beauty and bridal and so far have been writing up the stand-out shows from the fashion weeks. I will definitely still be continuing with Liner Notes, although I think I’ll leave the show reports to Vogue. It’s only been one week and I’m already going into show-overload!!

Here are the posts I’ve done so far, have a read, I’d love to hear what you think! There’s Prairie Chic at Rodarte, Natural Glamour at  Michael Kors, Pleated Ponies at Vera Wang, Big Brows at Alexander Wang, and Crazy Colour at Thakoon. Which look will you be working? I’m going to go brow and “textured hair” (ie. lazy hair) crazy!

Ps. How fab is this German Vogue cover? I definitely need to get me a pair of those swimmers!

INTO THE FOLD

Two images from GALA Curios’ stunning collection, Into The Fold.

Shot by Bowen Arico, styled by Paul Bui, and with hair and makeup by moi, these pieces and images re-envision origami and contemporary Japanese textiles. I kept hair and makeup really simple for this shoot by playing with light and shade. My key highlighting products were Nars’ Highlighting Blush Powder in Albatross and Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl, while I contoured heavily and painted lips with Nars’ The Multiple Bronzer in Cap Vert.

I’ve got my eyes on the Crushed Cuff in Nickle Silver and Accordian Bangle in Brass, what about you?

IVORY

Move over camel, hellooo ivory. This, I kid you not, is exactly how my hair looks each morning. Now, does anyone have a spare Annie Hall-esque outfit I can borrow?

Please?

Anyone?

VOGUE

I’m not sure if you recall but late last year I said that I had some huge news, and now, it can finally be revealed…

My work is published in the latest issue of Vogue Australia. I know, pretty exciting! I can’t say thank you enough to Sigourney, the beauty and health editor at Vogue, who is the kindest and sweetest person you will ever meet.

ps. I saw this outfit in person and oh baby!

PRADA

Get ready to dance ladies and gentlemen!

This clip makes me so happy. The music, the colours, the shoes (!!), and of course, the hair and makeup. Generally reserved for futuristic looks, makeup maestro Pat McGrath chose graphic silver eyeshadow to hark back to the silent-movie era, adding an extra dash of boldness to these colourful donne. As for the hair… make sure you check out the back of these sleek looks, quite possibly the chicest buns I have ever seen.

ANGELS

It was only Monday but it seems like forever since I last posted. A week filled with office work, shoots, campaigns, portraits, errands, skype, and an icky visit to le dentiste (sounds much more bearable in a French accent, non?), I just can’t wait for it to cool down, to let my hair out and relax just like these lovelies. Tres jolie!

MECCA’S BEAUTY GAME CHANGER #2

French women are gorgeous in their older age. Their (not-so) secret? They start using anti-ageing products in their early 20s. Perricone MD Cold Plasma is the anti-ageing product for every age. Whether you’re in your early 20s and just about to really start caring for your skin, or you’re a tad older and need to give your skin a boost, this product successfully addresses the 10 signs of ageing*.

Let’s be honest here, I only have a few of these signs, but I knew that I’d be really testing my skin over the festive and summer seasons so I started to trial Cold Plasma two months ago, right before my Christmas and New Year revelry. Alcohol, Christmas pudding, bbqs, take-away, more pudding, trifle, no exercise, dumplings, long days on the beach –  albeit lots of fun – these indulgences made my skin hate me. My usual 2 signs of ageing had jumped up to 5 (dryness, redness, uneven skin tone, impurities and loss of radiance). Each night however, I popped this cooling gel on top of my rosewater and underneath my moisturiser and would wake up flawless. Spots that were coming up had subsided and my skin looked so fresh and calm.

Filled to the brim with antioxidants, nutrients and vitamins (Alpha Lipoic Acid and Phospholipids may sound familiar) and free of parabens, sulphates, mineral oil, artificial colours and fragrance, Cold Plasma works and is my new life (face?) saver.

Not just beneficial for 20-somethings, Cold Plasma was tested independently on participants ranging in age from 20-65 over a period of 4 weeks and the results are in: 89% had more radiant skin, 82% said their discolourations had improved, and 77% and 75% had improvements in firmness and elasticity, respectively.

Now watch out les francaises, we’re set to look gorgeous too!

*The infamous 10 signs of aging are wrinkles, enlarged pores, dryness, discolouration, redness, uneven skin tone, impurities, loss of firmness, loss of smoothness and loss of radiance.
