I recently did a test with a super girl team: photographer Zanita, stylist Kat Wotton and model Vanessa Breuer from Chic. It was AMAZING. We worked insanely well as a team, shooting plenty of outfits and having so much fun.
The picture above is by far one of my favourite images I’ve shot. I adore the feeling of this shot. Vanessa looks so glamourous and serene basking in the sun. The outfit is terribly chic, Vanessa’s movement is so feminine and beautiful, and I love how the softness and relaxed expression in her face contrasts the gritty step and pebbly ground.
Here is a peek at the makeup…
I used a flat, dark brown (no shimmer or sparkles or anything) from Inglot on the eye and then layered the most beautiful brown eyeshadow, Fez from Nars, on top to get that bronze highlight and create depth. Using an angled shading brush (quite a fluffly one, like Mac’s 275), I blended like crazy so the edges weren’t harsh and the brown subtly faded away. I made sure to put plenty of colour under Vanessa’s eyes to really frame them and bring out her amazing blue peepers. For some looks I used Mac’s Orange Alarm (of course! I love that colour too much!) on the lips but mainly stuck to Shu Uemura’s BG 954M, which as of now is known as Creamy Chloe A/W 2010 Tan in Matte, as those letters and numbers don’t cut it for me.

I generally like to use fairly natural products on my skin as it gets a decent workout from the makeup I wear. Recently though, I’ve found my skin to be really uneven so I’ve upped the ante. By recommendation of the lovely, fun and amazing Noni Smith, I’ve been trying out the powerful Murad cleanser and have found that the Salicylic acid and other ingredients have really smoothed out my skin and kept the spots at bay. Thank you so much Noni!
After gently patting my skin dry, I lightly spray my face with a hydrating water, whatever’s laying about, rosewater, lavender, or even chamomile – it depends on my mood. I’ve been trialling the Skin Perfecting Lotion by Murad, a lightweight, oil-free moisturiser which clears pores and soothes irritation, and that it does, however I don’t think it’s anything to write home about. I then use my super special Chanel eyecream (thanks Mum for spoiling me!), softly tapping it around my eye to get circulation flowing and then finish my morning routine with sunscreen, the most important of all products!

Here’s a sneak peek of the test I did last week with the super amazing photographer (and model and stylist !!) Zanita Whittington (whom I interviewed here) and the gorgeous Alyce Crawford of Priscillas agency…
SO EXCITING! The day was such a breeze, Zanita is a powerhouse behind the lens – she has such a clear vision and shoots so speedily, and Alyce was a gem and constantly had the hugest smile on her face, even in the super chilly wind!
Tests are so much fun, you can do whatever you want to, and I did! As you know I love power-brows and emphasised Alyce’s with MAC Brow Powder and an angled brush. I used my favourite NARS Lipcolour in Funny Face for half of the shots and the other half I used a vibrant blue cream eyecolour by Shu Uemura in the inner-vs of Alyce’s eyes.
As you can see, both of the girls did an incredible job and I am so so so over the moon with the images.

I’ve never really been the biggest reality tv fan. I guess thanks to my Arts degree (I was also a Performance Studies major – I loved writing screen plays) and the fact that I always seem to have too much to do, but I think things are going to change tonight. Over the past few months I’ve worked as a makeup artist on 5 episodes of Cycle (Season?) 6 of Australia’s Next Top Model and have had the best time!
The majority of my experiences have been unreal, and one or two that have been totally disastrous (I’ll fill you in as they air). I have made some great friendships with a few of the girls and mostly can’t wait to see how everyone else receives them. Also, with editing, dialogue and a soundtrack like in the promo below, looks like it’ll be a real hoot!
This hair has all of my favourite things – it’s rococo (it’s HUGE and fluffy), it’s colourful, and looks like you could eat it (and it would taste amazingly sweet – bonus!).
Julia Nobis looking fiiine in the latest issue of Russh. I love all of the textures, the fullness of her coat in the second shot, the dark eyeliner under her eyes, her glowing skin. So cool. So beautiful.
Never have dark circles looked so chic! I love the black curves around her eyes, the texture of her hair and head scarf, and the print of her jacket. Beautiful!

This is pretty much how I remember the ages of 18 to 22 to be (minus the shoulders and expensive totes). An explosion of colour, flats, high ponytails and circles of black eyeliner. Oh!
